Word Earth Day 2022

Did you know that April 22nd is World Earth Day? This day is to raise awareness about increasing concerns of overpopulation, loss of biodiversity, and depleting quality of the environment. We need to invest in Our Planet and act from a business and political standpoint to enable future generations to enjoy Earth as much as we have. To do this we need to act, innovate, and implement because we all need Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health, survival and most importantly our happiness. 

Lir Chocolates and Cocoa Horizons

While enjoying your favourite chocolate treat, you probably don’t think about the huge environmental and social impacts cocoa farming has, which is the process involved in transforming cocoa beans into the delicious chocolate we know. At Lir, we want to ensure sustainable choices are made so that future generations can enjoy chocolate just as much as we do! 

That is why we participate in cocoa sustainability practices with Cocoa Horizons, a foundation which seeks to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farmers and their communities through the promotion of sustainable, entrepreneurial farming, improved productivity, and community development. Through our support of the Cocoa Horizons Foundation, we aim to improve farming practices and explore innovative solutions to drive positive change in cocoa-growing communities. The Foundation also focuses on social impact areas including women’s income generation, enabling children's potential through education, enhancing community wellbeing and mitigating climate change with cleaner energy, key areas for sustainable development.

Additionally, we are always trying to find new ways to make our packaging more sustainable as part of our journey to become fully sustainable across all our packaging and ingredients within the next five years.
